Sandberg and WEEE

Since 13 August 2005, most electrical and electronic equipment has been required to carry the crossed-out dustbin symbol. This symbol indicates that the product conforms to European WEEE Directive 2002/96/EC (Waste from Electrical and Electronic Equipment). WEEE (Waste from Electrical and Electronical Equipment).

All Sandberg products except for cables and PCI cards are covered by the WEEE Directive. When you discard products covered by the WEEE Directive, you must take them to your local recycling centre. Do not throw the product away in the same way as ordinary household waste. By disposing of electrical and electronic products properly, you can help to protect our environment and our health.

Sandberg and RoHS

The RoHS Directive 2002/95/EC came into force on 1 July 2006. It is intended to restrict the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment – "RoHS" stands for Restriction of the use of Hazardous Substances. (Restrict the use of Hazardous Substances).

The RoHS Directive covers six substances: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, PBB and PBDE. Sandberg products are most affected by the restriction in lead, which is used for soldering, and cadmium, which is used in PVC. In the year before the RoHS Directive came into force, Sandberg consulted closely with its manufacturers over raw materials and production methods. This means that Sandberg is very well positioned to meet the requirements of the RoHS Directive. The relevant substances in products imported after 1 July 2006 will of course not exceed the limits imposed by the RoHS Directive. So as a consumer, you can always be confident when buying a Sandberg product. You know that the product meets EU rules, helping to protect our environment and our health.
